It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

I had a very slow reading week, I spent a few days ferrying my sister who is ill to various appointments and my days just seemed to slip by. I also had an appointment myself in the city and I did get a few hours listening to my audiobook as I went by train.  But other than that... not much reading!

The day I went into the city hospital with my sister I did not read one word! I nearly always read every day. But traipsing around a hospital with someone in a wheelchair is enough in itself. I did well until I forgot to take the parking ticket out of the machine to get us out of the carpark. Thank you to the kind man who chased after me with it! Then I go to open the car and I can't find my car keys. Search.... panic.... search. While I am thinking what to do my sister takes my bag, searches around and finds the keys! What relief!

What I read last week:

This was a gentle read and I rather enjoyed it, with some small links to the world of quilting in it.

What I am reading at present:

Still listening to my audiobook The Endless Beach by Jenny Colgan, I do like it when I get round to listening to it that is.

I am almost finished this one and I have enjoyed it. Reading it for TLC book tour. The paperback of it is published this month, although hardback and ebook published last year.  I should finish it out today.

  2. Oh, wow, what a week! I've had times like that when everything is hectic and losing keys is just one of many frustrating events.

I am hoping to read Same Beach, Next Year soon, as it is tucked away on Pippa, my Kindle.

  5. Hope your sister feels better soon! I had a slow reading week too, and not for any reason other than just finishing a book and having a little delay til my next one comes out. Rather than grabbing something else, I just waited...

Glad The Endless Beach is good so far, it has a cute cover.

Hope you have a great week ahead!

  6. Kathryn, I work in a hospital so I definitely understand how much work that is and how exhausting it can be to escort a family member around; also, those stupid parking tickets! UGH! I hope she is on the mend and you, too!

  8. You had an eventful week with your sister. I hope she feels better soon. Both your books appeal to me because they make me think of summer which is taking its sweet time to arrive this year.

Gorgeous cover on A Soft Place to Fall.

I have The Taste of Air too....I haven't gotten to my copy yet.

I hope today is better for you car-key and parking-ticket wise and your sister is well soon.

  11. I hope that your sister is doing better. Appointments seem to suck up the week, don't they? I hope you have a more restful week and can squeeze in some reading time.

Those books are all new to me.

  12. I hope your sister is feeling better. I find it so hard to read in a medical setting!

  13. Caregiving can be overwhelming. I will keep both of you up in prayer. What a blessing the kindness of strangers can be. These all look like great books. Hope you enjoy that last one.

  16. I'm sorry to hear that your sister's ill and I can imagine the day in the hospital was exhausting! Glad you got your ticket and that your sister found your keys. I hate when that happens and it happens more often than I'd like to admit! A Soft Place to Fall sounds like the perfect read for this week and I'm really curious to see what you think of Dorothea Benton Frank. She's been on my TBR for ages. Have a great week!

  17. I think it’s ok to not read everyday...every once in a while...but I know myself and I would feel stressed and guilty!
